Even if one of the stilts breaks, the building still has a strong support. The ground floor is used as a space for firewood and farm tools while people always live upstairs. The cool wind blowing through the windows of the upstairs makes people feel ▲.
One of the main advantages of diaojiaolou is that in ancient times, these traditional buildings would provide protection from many wild animals. Today they continue to provide protection from snakes and insects. What's more, these buildings help prevent humidity-related (湿度相关的) illnesses that are common in southern China.
