The third session (赛季) of the Guizhou Village Super League (联盟) took place on Saturday, as Xiaorui village and Panxue village started a match on a football field in Rongjiang county (县), Southwest China's Guizhou province.

According to Wang Yonggui, deputy head of the Guizhou Village Super League office, more than 3,000 football lovers from 108 teams take part in this year's match, which shows a great increase compared with the past two years.
It is the first time for Dali village to organize a team to attend (参加) the Village Super League. Yang Bo, assistant coach of the village's football team, said that the Village Super League made football a more and more popular sport in the county and helped the villagers get together by organizing their own teams, and he hopes that the event will help the village to find a fresh way to be better.
The Village Super League also attracted some foreign visitors. David Geary, a 31-year-old football fan from Britain and teacher at Guizhou University, lived in Rongjiang at a young age and moved back to his mother country when he was 14 years old.
He said that his love for football and Guizhou made him go back to China. Taking Rongjiang as his second hometown, Geary sees himself as a villager in Liubaitang and has been a member of the village team for two years.
"It's nice to see people playing football and cheer on the village. I'm so happy to be a part of it, proud to be someone from Rongjiang," said Geary, adding that he hopes some young players will come through the Village Super League and go professional (职业的).
