Dorothy looked thoughtfully up at the Straw Man, which was raised above the field by a post in its back. She then walked to it, when Toto, her pet dog, had already run around under the post and barked.
"Good day," said the Straw Man.
"Did you speak?" asked the girl in wonder. "How do you do?"
"I'm not feeling well," said the Straw Man, with a strange smile painted on its face, "for it is very uncomfortable to be put here night and day."
"Can't you get down?"
"No, for this post is in my back. If you please take it away, I shall be greatly thankful."
Dorothy reached up both arms and lifted the Straw Man off the post and took it out of the field. "Thank you very much," said the Straw Man. "I feel like a new man. Who are you? And where are you going?"
"My name is Dorothy," said the girl, "and I am going to the Emerald City(翡翠城), to ask the Great Oz to send me back to my home."
"And who is Oz?" he asked.
"Why, don't you know?" she returned in surprise.
"No, indeed. I don't know anything. You see, I am just made of straw(稻草), so I have no brains at all," he answered sadly. "If I go with you, will Oz give me some brains?" he asked.
"I cannot tell," she returned, "but you may come with me, if you like. Even if Oz cannot give you any brains, you will still not be worse."
"That is true," said the Straw Man. "I do not want people to call me a fool. The farmers laughed at me when they were making me, saying that if my head stays with just straw instead of with brains, I will know nothing."
"Oh, dear. I understand how you feel. If you come with me, I'll ask Oz to do all he can for you."
However, Toto did not like this addition to the party at first. He sniffed around the Straw Man in an unfriendly way.
"Don't mind Toto," said Dorothy. "He never attacks a friend."
"Thank you," he answered with a bigger smile.

根据“However,Toto did not like this addition to the party at first. He sniffed around the Straw Man in an unfriendly way.”
根据“I do not want people to call me a fool. The farmers laughed at me when they were making me,saying that if my head stays with just straw instead of with brains,I will know nothing.”可知,起初农夫拿稻草人开玩笑,c排第一;根据“She then walked to it,when Toto, her dog,had already run around under the post and barked.”可知,宠物狗托托在稻草人背后的柱子下跑来跑去,d排第二;根据“Dorothy reached up both arms and lifted the Straw Man off the post and took it out of the field.”
根据“‘Don't mind Toto,’said Dorothy. ‘He never attacks a friend.’ ‘Thank you,’ he answered with a bigger smile.”
根据“Dorothy reached up both arms and lifted the Straw Man off the post and took it out of the field.”
