Scott thinks he is very lucky to get a good friend on the school trip last month. Before that he always saw the bad side of one thing. But something changed him that weekend.
That was a hot Saturday afternoon, and all the class went on a school trip to the mountains. But the long climbing made him really tired and he wanted to have a rest. As he rested, the young man felt very bad. He went on saying, “How bad the weather is! What bad luck we have…”
Then he felt thirsty, so he wanted to drink some water. But when he looked at the water bottle, he said, “Oh, no! It is half empty(空的)!” Then his classmate Rick looked at the bottle with a big smile on his face and said, “How lucky you are! It is half full, too.”
Scott looked at his friend in surprise. Then a smile slowly came out on his face and they both laughed.
He thought, “Rick is right. Being negative doesn’t help. I should try to see the good side.” Later that day, Scott was always with Rick, and he found that he really got a good friend. He could learn a lot from him. Now Scott becomes a person who sees “the glass half full, not half empty” with the help of his new friend!
