For many of us, there's nothing better than burying our head in a good book. Whether it's a funny story or a biography of someone's amazing life, it's good to read a book to break from the worries of everyday life and help us relax. Maybe that's why some of them are actually regarded as a way to treat the sickness.
It's known that reading is good for us. It can be educational, and, as some say, it can open the mind. A good novel can make us happy or sad, or make us cry when we feel pity for the characters.
The power of books was realised a few years ago by the British Charity Reading Agency(BCRA), who came out a list of books that doctors could offer to patients, dealing with different diseases. It called this "bibliography(参考文献)" and it's become so successful that it's about to be used for educating children as well.
Professor Philip Davis studies the effects of books at Liverpool University and is the writer of a book called Reading for Life. He studies people in reading groups and found that reading has art values that has the best effect. He told the BBC that when reading something for pleasure, the brain begins to work from different parts, and it gets excited, and you can see the brain coming to life.
Of course, it's easy in our smartphone generation to put away a good book and play with our phones instead. But opening up a book could be a simple way to help increase or keep our mind health. It's thought they can help you set goals and find the keys. And they may allow you to see that embarrassing situation you've been worried about for weeks by standing in others' shoes.
If you're not an experienced reader, it can be hard to know where to begin. If the Reading Agency book list doesn't interest you, you could read book reviews, visit a library, bookshop or ask a friend. Once you've found the right text, you'll lose yourself in it! And if you still love your technology, you could always use an e-reader.

答案

1.B 2.C 3.D 4.B 5.A

解析

根据原文第三段"the British Charity Reading Agency(BCRA), who came out a list of books that doctors could offer to patients, dealing with different diseases"可知,BCRA推出的书单是供医生提供给患有不同疾病的病人的,因此受益的群体是病人,对应选项B。
根据原文第四段Philip Davis的研究结论"when reading something for pleasure, the brain begins to work from different parts, and it gets excited, and you can see the brain coming to life"可知,为了愉悦、读自己感兴趣的书时大脑会被激活,效果最好,因此他会认同"我们最好读自己感兴趣的书"的观点,对应选项C。
第五段划线词they的前一句提到"opening up a book could be a simple way to help increase or keep our mind health",后续内容都是介绍阅读书籍的作用,因此they指代的是前文提到的books,对应选项D。
Whether it's a funny story or a biography of someone's amazing life, it's good to read a book to break from the worries of everyday life and help us relax"可知,有趣的故事、人物传记等各类书籍都可以帮我们放松,并非只有人物传记能让我们放松,B选项表述错误。
