Sarah’s Diary
On July 10th, my friends and I volunteered at a nursing home. We knew the old people there needed some company（陪伴）.
When we arrived, we were a bit shy. But the old people were so friendly, and they made us feel welcome. We started talking to them, asking about their lives. They loved sharing their stories.
We also played games with them. It was fun, even though we weren’t very good at some of the games. The old people laughed and said we made them feel young again.
One old lady held my hand and said she was happy to talk to us. It made me feel good. I realized that just talking to them and being there was enough.
I learned that the old people don’t need much. They just need someone to listen and care. I want to volunteer there again and make more friends.

We left our school at 9 a.m. We helped the old people clean their rooms, told them funny stories and performed a short English play for them. All the old people smiled happily and said we were very good. I felt very tired but really happy after the whole day. This is the most meaningful activity in my summer vacation, and I know it's great to care for the people in need.
