When I go to a new place, I like to walk around the streets. In many cities, I find lots of street dogs. A street dog is a dog with no home and lives on the streets. They sleep, eat food and walk in the city. The dogs do not have an easy life: They are often hungry, cold or injured (受伤的).
Some people think street dogs are not clean or nice, so they don't welcome them. But many people like the dogs. They take a street dog back home and keep it as a pet. But in some cities there are many dogs on the streets. There are over 2.5 million street dogs in Chile (智利). They may bring some trouble to the country.

Last November, Ariel rode her bike to the riverside. She planned to go hiking and watch birds. While walking, she found a beautiful swan near the riverside. It was hurt. Ariel, working at the Wild Bird Fund Rehabilitation Center, knew that swans can be aggressive. But she must help the swan. So she got close to it. She put her jacket over the swan's head to calm it down, gently picked it up and then held it in her arms.
The Wild Bird Fund Rehabilitation Center was across the river and it was on the other side of the city. Luckily, strangers gave Ariel a ride to a subway station. Then an animal-care manager picked her up and took them to the center. The swan was checked, treated and cared for. Now the bird makes many swan friends there, and it is living a happy life. It's really a happy ending.
