Birthday traditions in Western cultures
In most Western cultures, birthdays are celebrated with cakes and candles. Let's take a look at some unique (独特的) ways of celebrating.
Birthday Bumps (生日举抛)
In the UK, you should be careful on your birthday. You will be taken by the arms
and legs and then is "bumped" up into the air and down onto the ground gently (轻柔地). This is repeated (重复) one time for each year of your age—plus (加上) an extra (额外的) bump for "good luck"!
Birthday Ear Pulling (生日扯耳朵)
In Italy (意大利), it's a tradition to pull on the earlobes (耳垂) of the birthday boy or girl to wish a happy birthday. This is done once for each year of the person's age.
