2026年新课程学习辅导八年级英语下册人教版第100页答案
四、阅读短文,完成下列任务。
Around 130 million books have been published in human history. On average, a reader can read at most 6,000 books in his or her life. Most of them won't be very interesting or unforgettable. Books are like people. We meet many, but fall in love with only a few.
Perhaps we will only remember a small part of the books we've read. They will be different for each of us, but they affect us in similar ways.
▲ When we see a bird flying in the sky, we may feel something beautiful, but we may find it hard to find the right words to express our feelings and finally we might just say, "That's so nice." However, a good writer can describe it wonderfully—showing us the angle of the wing, the slow movement of the largest branch of a tree and the angle of the mouth in a smile.
Great writers build bridges for us to communicate with each other. They depict our similar experiences and show us what we can share with one another and how we can help each other.
They also help us to feel. By reading a book, we meet characters who touch our hearts. We might meet someone beautiful, young and smart, but dying, and we feel sad about their pain and the unfairness of the world. Or perhaps we meet a character who is poor, weak but hard-working, and we find the courage to face the difficulties in life through their story.
