Last Saturday night, I went to the supermarket to buy some food. It was a little late and there were only 2 checkouts(收银台) open at that time. A woman and her younger brother were standing in front of me. They had a bag full of food and were trying to use their food stamps to pay for the food.
Unluckily, their food ran over budget(超出预算). The woman and her brother asked the cashier if there might be something wrong. The cashier called someone, and soon a man came and pulled them to the side to explain everything to them.
Then the cashier started to check my things out. I asked the cashier how much the woman and her brother's food cost. It was around 45 dollars in all. I told her I would pay for it. After paying for their food, I left the supermarket before they got to know it.
I don't know what they thought or what they said, but I hope I could help them a little. I think it is best to help someone quietly instead of telling him or her about it.
