Ⅲ. 阅读短文,根据短文内容按要求完成下列任务。
If you love all things about ancient Egypt, there is good news. According to an article published in April 2021, Egyptologists(埃及古物学者) have rediscovered a 3,000-year-old lost city—Aten under the sands. They called it “the lost golden city”, which is believed to be the largest ancient Egyptian city ever found.
Aten was first found in the summer of 2020. It lies near Luxor, which is famous for the Valley of the Kings. It is around 500 kilometers south of the capital city of Cairo.
Dr Zahi Hawass is one of the leading Egyptologists. He said, “Many foreign teams of archaeologists searched for this city and never found it.”
When the Egyptian team uncovered Aten, they were surprised to discover that it was in such good condition of preservation(保存), with almost complete walls, and rooms filled with tools of daily life. After several months of careful work, the team found many exciting things.
Betsy Bryan is a professor of Egyptology at Johns Hopkins University. She said the city was the “second most important archaeological discovery since 1922”. This is because she believes it will help us learn about what Egyptian life was like during one of its wealthiest times.
The Egyptian team hopes that in the future they will discover more ancient things here. Who knows what people could next discover under our feet?
