Volunteering your time is a great way to make a difference in your community. You can do something to help people or improve the places around you.
This summer, my friends and I noticed how messy our neighborhood park was. We wanted it to be different. We worked without parents and teachers to clean up the park. We had a great time making the park even better than before, and now the whole neighborhood is able to share and enjoy again.
Volunteering can not only do good in the community, it can also make you happier. Studies show that people who volunteer hardly develop depression(抑郁).
Find chances to do volunteer work that interests you. For example, if you love animals, you can volunteer at an animal shelter(收容所). If you love helping the environment, you can plant trees or pick up rubbish. You can also help at an old people's home, simply by talking or playing games with them to make their days better. When you do this interesting job, it will bring you a lot of happiness and make you enjoy the volunteer experience. When the little things you do can change a person's life, you will feel better about yourself.
