On July 31, a very special baby giraffe was born(出生) at a zoo in America. Tall giraffes are famous for their spots(斑点), but this giraffe looks different—it doesn't have any spots.
David Bright, who runs the zoo, said, “We don't often see this kind of giraffe. The last time I saw that was in Japan in 1972.” A giraffe has its spots when it is still growing inside its mother. So this giraffe will never have spots in her life.
The young giraffe's name is Kipekee, which means “special” in English. Mr Bright said that his family thought about hundreds of names for the giraffe. And there were four choices: Kipekee, Firyali, Shakiri, Jamella. At last, the zoo asked people around the city for help to decide(决定) one for the special animal.
Giraffes are born really large. When Kipekee was a month old, she was about 1.8 metres tall. Mr Bright said Kipekee is a girl and she's very sweet and friendly. People like to see her, so she is really popular at the zoo.
