Wang Xue is a student from a university in Beijing. Now she works as a volunteer Chinese teacher at a high school in Yunnan Province.
At first, Wang was worried about her teaching methods(方法) because her students didn’t do well in class. However, Wang didn’t give up when she faced the challenges. She tried new ways like encouraging students through praising and making them work in groups. Later, her hard work paid off and the students made great progress.
Besides daily teaching, Wang often organized after-school activities to support the students’ all-around development. One of her proudest projects was guiding her students to write poems. Through the project, the students discovered the beauty of Chinese, and started seeing the world differently.
Wang also helped her students with difficulties in their life. Once a student surnamed(姓) Zhou fell ill. Wang visited her at the hospital. Then she knew that her father passed away and her mother now supports two daughters alone by running a small shop. Since then

“And here, I found that the warmth goes both ways. The more I gave, the more I got. That’s the real power of volunteer teaching,” Wang said.
