Rosa's neighbourhood had an empty lot (地)full of rubbish that smelled bad, especially in summer. One day, when Rosa saw the flowers outside Mr John-son's house, an idea came to her mind. Why not change the lot into a garden? Then Rosa called on neighbours to join her.
When they met at the lot, Rosa shouted cheerfully, "Let's get started, everyone!" She pointed to the mountains of rubbish around the lot.
Rosa's brother Diego agreed and quickly picked up a plastic bottle. Maria, Rosa's best friend, joined in too. "This is our community, and we all need to take care of it," she said softly.
The work was hard, but no one gave up. Diego showed Rosa how to properly deal with broken glass, and Maria helped a younger neighbour lift a heavy bag of rubbish. They talked with each other happily as they worked. After they cleaned up the rubbish, they started to plant some trees and flowers. Rosa and Maria began digging holes for the trees and flowers. They were working together happily.
"This is going to make our community look much nicer," Maria said happily.
"Exactly!" Everyone agreed.
That day, Rosa realized that one small idea can make a big change if people work together.
