五、阅读理解
阅读短文,然后根据内容选择最佳答案。
Last summer, I joined the SSP Panda Volunteer Camp and travelled to Chengdu,
Sichuan. We set off on August 7. Early in the morning, we arrived at Wolong National
Panda Nature Reserve(卧龙国家级熊猫自然保护区). It's the biggest panda reserve
in China. The workers there told us many interesting facts about pandas.
Pandas are lovely, but they are very lazy. Every day, they spend about ten hours
sleeping and twelve hours eating. Yes, they only spend two hours doing exercise!
Pandas like eating bamboo and carrots. They eat as much as they can. No wonder
they are very fat! We helped the workers at the reserve feed the pandas and clean the
yard where they lived and played. My task was to pick up the leftover bamboo and
replace it with fresh bamboo. The temperature at the reserve was high. It took me
about half an hour to finish my task. It was truly tiring and I sweated(出汗) a lot.
We also visited the panda exhibition room. We learned about different kinds of
bamboo. We found out pandas' favourites as well as why baby pandas died so easily.
Finally, we finished our five-day tour on August 11. After the tour, I was lost in
thought. Pandas are in great danger. I hope everyone will be aware of their situation.
All of us should know that it's our responsibility to protect the environment and
make an effort to prevent pandas from extinction. If we do nothing, we won't have
any of them and our world will be bleak(索然无味的).
1. How many hours do pandas spend doing exercise every day?
A. Ten hours. B. Twelve hours.

3. What does the underlined word "extinction" mean?
A. Growing up. B. Getting fat.

1. 细节理解题:定位原文第二段关键句“they only spend two hours doing exercise!”,可知熊猫每天锻炼2小时,对应选项C。
2. 细节理解题:
A选项:原文提到“Finally, we finished our five-day tour on August 11”,说明作者在保护区待了5天,正确;
B选项:原文明确“Pandas like eating bamboo and carrots”,与选项矛盾,错误;
C选项:原文是“I hope everyone will be aware of their situation”,并非“所有人已经意识到”,错误;
D选项:原文是“I was lost in thought”(陷入沉思),不是“在保护区迷路”,错误;故选A。
3. 词义猜测题:划线词所在句意为“防止熊猫______”,结合前文“Pandas are in great danger”及后文“If we do nothing, we won't have any of them”,可知extinction意为“灭绝”,对应选项D(dying out)。
4. 主旨大意题:全文围绕作者参加SSP熊猫志愿者营的经历展开,核心是志愿者的美好体验,对应选项B。
【答案】
1.C 2.A 3.D 4.B
