I had to explain it many times when introducing myself, yet they still said it wrong. Once in class, my professor repeated my name incorrectly in front of classmates. I didn’t want to disrupt the class, so I told him it was okay, feeling embarrassed as the class laughed. Later, I stopped correcting others when they mispronounced my name, just smiling and nodding to avoid discomfort. But soon I realized I might be losing the chance to share a little of my Chinese culture.
