My favorite thing to do in my free time is volunteering. Here are my top four reasons why I think volunteering is so important.
An opportunity (机会) to get experience.
By volunteering, you are carrying out a job and you can get experience which is useful in the future. For example, many volunteering roles will help you get experience in working as a team.
Meet new people.
One of the best things about volunteering is meeting the other volunteers! They are likely to be very friendly and might just turn out to be great friends, too.
A way to feel confident (自信的).
Many people say volunteering helps them feel more confident. For example, I have always been quite a shy person, but my volunteering experience has helped me have confidence in talking to others. Never be the person “Once bitten (咬), twice shy”.
Have lots of fun.
Doing an activity with like-minded (志趣相投的) people is really fun. You will also feel good to know that you are doing something for a good reason.
