Activity 2 One possible version:
Dear Mum and Dad,
I'm writing to tell you about a cooking
accident that happened to me today. I
decided to make fried chicken. While I was
waiting for the oil to heat and talking with
Allen about his football game, the oil in the
pan caught fire. I turned off the stove
immediately, but a flame jumped onto my
shirt. I put out the fire on my shirt by rolling
on the floor. Luckily, Allen knew from his
first aid and safety classes that water could
make oil fires worse. He used the fire
extinguisher to put out the fire in the pan. My
arm was a bit red, but it didn't hurt much.
Finally, we decided to eat out. Don't worry
about me. I'll be more careful next time.

Activity 3 One possible version:
Dear classmates,
Today, I want to share a story about a
cooking accident to talk about kitchen safety.
In the story, James left the oil to heat on the
stove unattended, which is a common
danger in the kitchen. Oil can easily catch
fire if overheated or left alone.
To prevent such accidents, never leave
cooking food unattended. Keep flammable
items away from the stove. And make sure
to keep a fire extinguisher handy in the
kitchen.
If an oil fire does occur, never pour
water on it, just like Allen did in the story.
Water will spread the fire. Instead, turn off
the heat source immediately and cover the
pan with a lid to cut off the oxygen. If the
fire is out of control, use a fire extinguisher.
Remember, kitchen safety is very
important. Let's all be careful and stay safe!
