round, flat cake. It has cheese, tomatoes and other toppings(配料). You may also think of America, but it's not an American dish.

It is from Naples, Italy. In the late 1700s, many people in the city didn't have a lot of time or money to eat. They needed something fast and cheap. Pizza was their choice.
People didn't have to buy a whole pizza. They could just buy one or two slices. However, before 1830, they could only buy pizza on the street. Soon, pizza became really popular, and people could eat it in pizza stores.
Pizza was big in Naples, but the other parts of the world didn't know about it. Then in the late 1800s, people from Naples started to move to the US. They brought the pizza tradition with them.
The country's first pizza store opened in New York City in 1905. Soon, the dish spread across America quickly. Also, Americans made changes to it. American pizza has thick crust and uses tomato sauce. And it often has many toppings.
