A hunter caught Deer's leg in a trap. Turtle tried to help. He bit the rope with his mouth. Pigeon flew at the hunter and pecked(啄) at his head again and again. The hunter had to go back into his house.
But soon the hunter came out again! Pigeon tried to peck him, but he had a bag on the head. Pigeon flew quickly back to Turtle and Deer and shouted, “Quick! The hunter is coming!”
Turtle bit harder. His mouth hurt and bled(流血). Just as the hunter arrived, Turtle bit through the rope! Deer pulled his leg free. He ran fast into the forest. Pigeon flew away too. Turtle moved to the forest as fast as he could, but he could only move slowly. The hunter saw him and wanted to shoot. Just then, Deer ran back! He pretended(假装) that his leg was badly hurt. The hunter forgot Turtle and began to run after Deer. Deer led him deep into the forest and then ran away fast.
Deer, Turtle and Pigeon are still best friends now. They love telling the story of how they worked together to save Deer.
