Today I met Li Mei, a beautiful new singer from southern China who is taking Asia by storm! This year she is touring (在……巡回演出) all of Asia, so we met at the hotel which she is staying in. I only had one hour to find out everything I could, so I asked her plenty of questions about music and movies that she likes to give you a look into her life!
First of all, I asked her who her musical heroes are, and she had an interesting answer!
"Well, I suppose it's my mom! She is the director of a local music school. Since I was young, I've seen how she helped others find happiness through music. I watched them perform and saw the praise they got—I wanted that praise, too!" said Li Mei.
I asked why she ended up singing instead of being a musician.
"I have a good voice, but I'm not such a good musician! I prefer singing, especially songs that are lively because I like to dance, too. I sing and dance while musicians play!"
In that case, what kind of music does she like dancing to?
"I have to say my own! And I prefer music that is fast so I can do hip-hop dancing (嘻哈舞蹈)—that dance style is really exciting! It's hard work but it's a lot of fun. It's good exercise, too!" said Li Mei.
Soon, Li Mei had to leave to prepare for her concert. I had time for just one more question, so I asked her what she likes to do to relax. Does she ever go on a vacation?
"Yes! It's so important to take time off once in a while. I like vacations that are relaxing so I usually visit my hometown and stay with my mom and dad. I watch movies, hang out with my friends and eat lots of mom's cooking!" said Li Mei.
