First, my dad told me to reach 5 into the tank and take the house away. Taking my 6 out of the water, I noticed that the water was a lot dirtier than I thought.
“That’s smelly!” I said, “Let’s 7 up and get the fish out of the water, Dad!”
“Not so fast, Ben,” Dad said, “We need to save some of the old water, 8 Bob needs a place to stay when we clean the tank.”
“Why?” I asked.
“Running water from the tap (水龙头) is bad for fish,” Dad replied. “That means we can’t put Bob into fresh water right away. Instead, we need to put him in a cup with 9 of the dirty water for a while.”
All seemed so easy. I was 10 to clean the tank all by myself from then on. I looked after my pet fish Bob very well.

Now a lot of families keep pets in their houses. Most pets are small animals, such as cats, dogs, fish, snakes and birds.
Dogs are the favorite pets. The second favorite are cats and the third are birds. These small animals are very cute and friendly. People usually have them as their family members. They look after them very well. They let them wear beautiful clothes and their pets have nice names. They also give their pets nice food to have. They buy food for their pets in pet shops. They keep them clean every day.
Pets are all very happy. Many pets have their own houses and beds. They often go out to relax and take a walk with people in the park in the morning. Some children like pets because they need friends to play with at home. Many old people don’t live with their children, and they keep pets at home just because they often feel lonely. The pets are like their children and they love them very much. So pets are very important. I think every family needs pets.
