Can you imagine how hard it is to cook in space? It's impossible to cut vegetables or mix a salad, so all the meals are ready-made on earth before astronauts leave for space.
At first, space food for astronauts was simple. Each meal was in a little packet. It was easy to carry and eat, but it didn't taste good. But now, food scientists on earth work hard to make sure that the food is healthy and tastes good.
