A Wheat Seed's Journey
Hello there! I'm a winter wheat seed, and I want to tell you my story. It's a long adventure.
You can find me in many places in China. It's cool in the north. The farmers usually put me in the soil in September. But in the south, it's warm, and I usually go to the soil in October. I drink the water and feel the sun. I grow, I grow!
In winter, it's cold outside, but my bed is warm and soft. I sleep in my bed, and my little root grows slowly. How nice!
In spring, it's warm again. I'm so hungry after a long sleep. My green body grows towards the sun. The farmers water me, feed me, and pull out the weeds. I can dance with the wind. My body goes up, up, up. I'm so strong now, and I grow ears of wheat. They start green, then turn golden.
In summer, big machines come. They pick me. Then I go to a mill and become soft flour.
Finally, where am I now? I'm the bread. I can be made into sandwiches, noodles, cakes and cookies, too.
When you eat your bread, you know my story. From a wheat seed to your yummy food. What an amazing journey!
