The Yangtze River is the longest river in China and in Asia. It is also the third longest river in the world. It has a total length of about 6,300 kilometres, starting from the west of China and running all the way east through many provinces and cities. Finally, it flows into the East China Sea, drawing a beautiful picture across the Chinese land.
It is always called the “Mother River” of the Chinese nation and is one of the important birthplaces of Chinese civilization. For thousands of years, it has provided clean drinking water for millions of people and plenty of water for farming land along the river, helping crops grow well. Besides, the Yangtze River plays a big role in China’s transportation. It is a busy waterway that carries goods between eastern and western cities, pushing the economic development of many areas.
Along the Yangtze River, there are many amazing natural views, and the Three Gorges is the most famous one. It attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world every year with its wonderful scenery. Now people pay more and more attention to protecting the Yangtze River’s environment. We all try our best to keep the river clean and beautiful, because it is not only a great natural wonder of China, but also an important part of our country’s development and life.
