A Wonderful Trip to Beijing
Beijing is the capital of China. It is a great city with a long history and many places of interest. Last holiday, I visited Beijing with my family. We went to many famous and beautiful places. I want to tell you about our wonderful trip.

The Palace Museum is also called the Forbidden City. It is in the center of Beijing. It was home to 24 emperors(皇帝) of the Ming and Qing dynasties. People built it in 1420. It is one of the largest and best-kept old buildings in the world. In 1987, it became a World Heritage Site(世界遗产). The Palace Museum has about 9,000 rooms. It has two big parts: the Outer Palace and the Inner Palace. The Outer Palace has the famous Hall of Supreme Harmony(Taihe Hall). Emperors held important ceremonies(典礼) there. The Inner Palace was the living place for the emperor and his family.

The Great Wall goes from Shanhaiguan in the east to Jiayuguan in the west. It looks like a huge dragon across the mountains in North and Northwest China. The Badaling part of the Great Wall is in the northwest of Beijing. It is a typical part built in the Ming Dynasty. There is a great gate tower on the Badaling ridge(山脊). The Great Wall is made of granite stones(花岗岩石板) and special bricks(砖). It is high and wide on the top. People built beacon towers(烽火台) along the wall. They used them to send messages to each other.

The Summer Palace is a beautiful royal garden in the northwest of Beijing. It is one of the best-preserved old gardens in China. People built it a long time ago. Later, Empress Dowager Cixi lived and worked here in summer. There are many famous places in the garden, such as the Long Corridor(长廊), the Marble Boat(石舫) and Suzhou Street. A lot of old cultural relics(古迹) are on show here. So people also call it a "Museum Park". Today, it is very popular with visitors from all over the world. They come here to learn about Chinese history and culture.
I really enjoyed this trip.

A Wonderful Trip to Beijing
Beijing is the capital of China. It is a great city with a long history and many places of interest. Last holiday, I visited Beijing with my family. We went to many famous and beautiful places. I want to tell you about our wonderful trip.
