One 7-year-old boy is now being honored with "a hero" after he saved a classmate during lunch. Though the 7-year-old might not have had a chat with his parents about first aid, he knew what to do after remembering a particular episode(集)of *The Good Doctor* that he'd watched with his dad.
David Diaz is a student in Woodrow Wilson Elementary in Binghamton, New York. He saved his classmate from choking(窒息) on a piece of pizza while at lunch by using the Heimlich maneuver(海姆利希急救法). His actions were awarded with the New York State Senate Commendation Award.
A teacher at Woodrow Wilson Elementary, Kristin Korba, shared with the media that David was sitting directly across from the student who choked.
She said, "The adults were walking up and down in the dining hall, monitoring them. David rushed behind the choking student and performed the Heimlich maneuver. The student was saved in the end."
Afterward, Korba sat down with David and had a chat with him in which she learned that the child had seen the Heimlich maneuver used in a TV show, and he had decided to "remember" it. What an "important" thing a child did!
Many officers made a visit to David's classroom in person in order to present him with the award.
Sen. Akshar posted, "David is a true community hero who's made his family, his school and his community very proud!"
