The weather is often cold. We can see a full moon in the sky. At the Lantern Festival, we can see many beautiful lanterns in the street too. Children also light some beautiful lanterns for fun. Watching the red lanterns is one of the main traditions. There are some different shapes and sizes of lanterns. In the evening, we watch the beautiful lanterns with our family. The streets and shops are bright and colourful at night. People also like guessing the riddles on the lanterns. The riddles are usually short, wise and sometimes humorous. The answer to the riddle can be a Chinese character, a famous person's name or a place name.
The most important thing is to eat sweet dumplings with different tastes. In northern China, sweet dumplings are called yuanxiao, while in southern China, they're named tangyuan. They are very delicious. Making sweet dumplings is like a game or an activity. They are usually done happily by a group of friends or family members.
