Once upon a time, there was a dog. One day, he found a big bone (骨头). He was very happy and decided to take it home to enjoy.
On his way home, he had to cross a bridge over a river. When he was walking on the bridge, he looked down and saw his own reflection in the water. He thought that there was another dog with a bigger bone. The greedy (贪心的) dog wanted that bigger bone too. So he opened his mouth to bark at the "other dog" in the water, trying to scare it and get the bone. But as soon as he opened his mouth, his own bone fell into the river and was carried away by the water. The dog was very sad and realized his greed had caused him to lose his own bone. From that day on, he learned that being too greedy would only lead to loss (损失).
