Meet England's Longest, Best-known River
The River Thames is the longest river in England and the second longest in the United Kingdom, after the River Severn. But the Thames is the most famous. That's probably (可能) because it's in London, the capital city. The Thames goes through London and other parts of the south of England.

Some of the best-known places in London are by the Thames: the Big Ben clock on the north side of the river; the London Eye on the south side, with its view of the city; and St. Paul's Cathedral (大教堂), which had to be built again after the Great Fire of London in 1666. Some of the many bridges over the River Thames are also famous: Westminster Bridge, Tower Bridge and Millennium Bridge.
