The Yungang Grottoes（云冈石窟）, located in Datong, North China's Shanxi Province, are one of the three most famous grottoes in China. With a history of 1 500 years, they are famous for their wonderful statues（雕像）, a number of relics（遗迹）and fine carvings（雕刻）. The site, which includes 45 main grottoes with over 59 000 statues in them, has been included in the list of World Cultural Heritage（世界文化遗产名录）by UNESCO.
