I was always very shy when I was younger. I hated meeting new people and worried about what to say to them. I think that's why I liked playing the piano so much. At the piano, I could sit alone for hours and hours without having to talk to anyone. When I was twelve years old, my piano teacher told me that she wanted me to give a performance at a local music school. My mother couldn't believe that I agreed to do it, but I loved it! My piece went well, and at the end, everyone in the hall stood up to applaud! That moment made me feel great and encouraged me a lot. I have been a much more confident person since then—even when I'm not playing the piano. I know that I can still make a big impression(印象).
Jake Perry
I was ill and had to stay at home for some time two years ago. When my parents went out to work, I had no one to talk to and often felt lonely. So I decided to make vlogs to record what was happening in my life, as well as my thoughts and ideas. I did it just to cheer myself up at first. Then one day, I happened to post a vlog on social media. It got 450 “likes” in a day, so I posted some others, and I got more and more followers. I enjoyed sharing my life with people online. With their support(支持) and encouragement, I made it through that difficult period of time. And I also got many friends to talk to.
