It taught us about the history of Xinchang as a place for selling salt. We also had tea at a teahouse. It was fun to see the beautiful buildings and learn about life in old times.

Last Sunday, our family went hiking in Huaguo Mountain. We went into the forest and saw beautiful waterfalls (瀑布). Our guide told us about the different plants and animals living there. I like visiting the Water Curtain Cave (水帘洞) best. It was very cool. We also had a picnic in the mountain. It was a fun trip. I learned a lot about nature and enjoyed the fresh air.

In March, I went to Dazhai Manchu Township (大寨满族乡) in Liaoning for a school trip. I saw some special and colourful clothes in the town and learned about the ways of the Manchu people. The food was different but delicious, especially (尤其) the rice cakes! I joined the kids in a dance, and we laughed and danced together. I felt like I was part of them for a while.

I was a volunteer (志愿者) teacher in Guilin, Guangxi. The first day at a small school was exciting. The kids were happy to see us. Our group taught the students of Grade 3 and Grade 4. We were all nice to each other. I taught them PE. And I taught them basketball. They were all excited. I realized that my job was meaningful because I helped them see the world. I learned that being a teacher is about teaching students values (价值观) and encouraging them to be their best.
