五、阅读表达。〔人与自我——积极向上的生活〕
When I asked my mum and dad if I could stay in Kavos with some of my friends for a week, I thought they would say “yes”. But at first, they didn't. They just went on and on about all the possible dangers. So I tried to change their minds. I told them, “If you were worried about the possibility of me falling off a wall and dying in Kavos, then why weren't you also worried about the possibility of the same thing happening to me in London?”
Finally, they agreed unwillingly. My mum took me to the airport. I had to travel alone because my friends had flown out the day before. I arrived at the hotel and met my friends there at 6 a. m. after a long night of flying.
After having left my luggage in my room, I went around our resort with my friends.
Everyone spoke English and everywhere looked like a cheap American film set. It was just what we needed after a long busy year.
I promised my parents I wouldn't go out every night. But once you're there, it just can't be helped.
Every one of us wanted to make the most of our week of freedom(自由). I think sometimes, we did get a bit too crazy.
I still wonder if my parents were happy with their decision. I won't be surprised if my mum still regrets(后悔) it. But I did have a wonderful holiday.
I think the experience has made my parents realize that at some point, they have to let go. And we should leave our parents bravely, learn to be independent and take care of ourselves.
