One of my favourite festivals is the Double Ninth Festival. It is a time to pay
respect to our elders and show how much we care about them.
Each year, my family travels to visit my grandparents. My uncle and his
family are also there. We take gifts for our grandparents and spend lots of
time with them. My uncle usually plays Chinese chess with my grandparents.
My mother and aunt cook a big dinner. We enjoy delicious food and talk
about our lives. It's great to spend time with family members we don't see
often.
After dinner, we sit together and share stories. My grandmother talks about
my father as a child. I think I'm like him. I tell my family about my day
playing with my cousins. My father takes us to swim. I am a strong swimmer.
Some of the other children at the swimming pool are still learning to swim.
I look after them and give them advice. My father says I am now the
swimming teacher.
Sharing stories makes me feel close to my family. It helps me learn about
them as well. It's my favourite part of the celebration.
