If someone is of your age, he or she is your peer. When you feel you have to do something because of your peers, you are experiencing peer pressure.
Good peer pressure is when you feel the pressure to do something good. You might do something good for yourself, or for others.
Bad peer pressure is when you feel the pressure to do something you shouldn't do. For example, it might be something bad for your health, or something dangerous. It might also be something against the rules or against your values(价值观).
Why do people give in(让步) to peer pressure?
If a friend tries to pressure you into doing something, you might feel you should do it to make him happy. You might even feel that he won't be your friend if you don't do it.
People often want to be accepted by their peers. They don't want to be different. They are afraid others will make fun of them if they do not do what everyone else is doing.
Make decisions when you feel peer pressure.
Here are some questions to ask yourself:
Could I get into trouble for doing this?
Might doing this hurt myself or another person, or hurt someone's feelings?
Does this go against my values?
Will I feel sorry or embarrassed(尴尬的) later if I do this?

If you answer "yes" to any of these questions, you are experiencing bad peer pressure. Then walk away. Remember, you don't have to do anything you don't want to do.
