It tells us to see the world with our hearts rather than just our eyes. I love this book because it is full of gentle wisdom and makes me understand the importance of true friendship and love.

My hobby is reading. I like reading books, magazines, newspapers, collections of short stories, novels, poems, or any kind of reading material that I find interesting.
This hobby got started when I was a little boy. At that time, I wanted my parents to read fairy tales（神话故事）and other stories to me. Soon they got fed up（厌烦）with having to read to me all the time. So as soon as I could, I learned to read. I started with ABC books. Soon I could read simple fairy tales and other stories. Now I read just about anything available（可得到的）.
Reading enables（使能够）me to learn about many things. I learn about how people lived in the bygone（以往的）days of magic and mystery. I learn about the wonders of the world, space travel, human achievements, huge whales, tiny viruses（病毒）, and other fascinating things.
The wonderful thing about reading is that I don’t have to learn things the hard way. Books have certainly helped me in my daily life. I am better equipped（具备的）to cope with（应付）living. Otherwise, I would go about ignorantly（无知地）learning things the hard way. For example, I don’t have to catch a disease to know that it can kill me. I read about the danger so I could avoid it. Also, I don’t have to go deep into the jungle to learn about tigers. I can read all about them in a book.
So, I continue to read. Besides being more informed about the world, I also spend my time profitably（有益地）. It is indeed a good hobby. What is the best way to read more? We can take a book with us all the time and read it when waiting for something, like the bus. Make a list of books you are interested in, and make plans for when to finish reading them.
