One Day We’ll Drive Across America
A new school year has begun. But when will I see Catherine again?
Catherine is my best friend. I met her in Grade 7. She has blond hair and brown eyes, just like me. Many people think we are twins since we are always together.
In our first class together, we sat in the same row (行) next to each other. We passed notes and whispers (说悄悄话) back and forth during class. It became our habit. Once, during science, we talked so much that our teacher threatened (威胁) to send us to the headmaster.
Catherine and I both like to read. We often went to the bookstore after school. We would sit there all day, until hunger made us stop and eat. In Grade 8, we only had math class together, but lunch still gave us a chance to chat and hang out.
But the next year brought problems. We had no classes together at all. It was hard to find a chance to get together. We were both busy. And sadly, we still are.
However, I still have Catherine in my heart and she still has me in hers. We plan to take a trip across the US together when we get our driver’s licenses (驾照). That thought, for now, keeps us together, even though we are physically apart.
