The taste and smell of a certain(某种) food can often bring back memories(记忆). Do you have any sweet food memories?
Mine start with my mother. She can do magic in the kitchen:Tofu and beef become red,hot Mapo tofu;carrots and mutton become lovely dumplings;a big fat hen becomes a pot of warm chicken soup; even eggs and green onions become wonderful pancakes. I always grow hungry thinking of them!
But my favourite is Mum's hawthorns. She always makes the best bingtanghulu for me, and it's never plain at all. It needs lots of time and energy. She picks red hawthorns first, then cleans them well. Next,she cooks sugar with a little water until it turns golden. After that, she dips each hawthorn into the sweet syrup. When it's ready,the hawthorns have a crispy, shiny sugar coat. It's sweet outside and a little sour inside—so tasty! I love every bite of my mum's special bingtanghulu.
Now I'm studying away from home. But all the warm memories stay with me. The old days still feel so sweet in my heart. What food remains strong in your memory?
