热考素材 时事热点 Guy Francis Bennett comes from Canada. He recently received treatment for his knees in Yichang, Hubei Province. He spoke highly of the medical workers for their high efficiency and excellent skills.
66-year-old Bennett hurt his knee in a soccer match. He hurt the meniscus(半月板) in his right knee. He went to a hospital in Vancouver. The doctors told him he would have to wait at least a year for regular minimally invasive surgery(微创手术). He was afraid that the long wait would make his problem worse and affect his work and daily life, so he felt quite worried.
Bennett had already planned to visit his wife's hometown in Yichang. So in mid-March, he decided to receive medical treatment there. Family friends suggested he see Dr. Wu Huang, an orthopedic(骨科) doctor at Yichang Second People's Hospital.
He said he had doubts at first, but Dr. Wu's professional skills made him feel relaxed. The doctor had worked as a visiting scholar in the UK. When Dr. Wu explained conservative(保守的) treatment and minimally invasive surgery choices to him in English, the Canadian made up his mind, "I trust Dr. Wu, and I trust China even more."
Bennett was admitted to hospital on March 10. The next day, Dr. Wu and his team performed arthroscopic minimally invasive surgery on him. During the operation, the doctors also found a meniscus hurt in his left knee and repaired it at the same time. They solved problems in both knees in just one operation, which lasted one and a half hours.
About six hours after the operation, Bennett was able to walk. On the third day after surgery, his knee felt hardly any pain. He could move freely and walk without difficulty.

He said he got better much faster than expected, and the medical cost was much lower than he thought. He and his wife were very satisfied with the result. They posted a video online to share their medical experience in China.
"Now I have two new knees!" he said in Chinese.
