Today was great—I became a junior zookeeper at Sunshine Zoo! My alarm rang at 6:30 am, and I got out of bed quickly. When I arrived at the zoo, Mr. Li, the head keeper, said hello to me with a smile. Our first job: be animal chefs ! We wore bright yellow gloves. We cut the carrots into small pieces for rabbits and mixed seeds into bird bowls. Did you know parrots love apple pieces?
Feeding time was fun! The shy rabbits sniffed(嗅)before eating my carrot pieces. In the bird house, colorful birds flew around me. Their claws tickled(挠)my hands as they ate seeds. But zookeeping isn’t all fun—cleaning taught me responsibility(责任). Sweeping old straw from rabbit homes made me sneeze(打喷嚏)and sick, but seeing their homes with new bedding made me happy.
In the afternoon, there were surprises! Mr. Li taught Polly(a parrot)to say “Hello” using seed rewards(奖励). When Polly said it clearly, we cheered! My favourite moment? Playing with baby goats. They loved to run around and eat carrots and grass. Their tongues licking my fingers made me laugh.
As the sun went down, I wrote about the day in my notebook. My arms were tired, but my heart felt light. Being an animal keeper means being a chef, cleaner, teacher, and friend! It’s about patience(耐心), care, and responsibility to our animal friends. Maybe one day I’ll train a parrot to say “Good job, keeper!” The zoo adventure(奇遇)goes on!
