In 2025, Mohammad Islam becomes a researcher at the School of Overseas Education in Sanming University. Before that, he never thought that a Chinese man named Lei Feng would become an important part of his life.
In 2018, he came to China for the first time to study at the university, and actively took part in volunteering activities. So people often call him "Yang Lei Feng", which means "foreign Lei Feng".
He discovered online that Lei Feng was a young soldier known for his selflessness and dedication(奉献) to helping others. The more he read, the more he saw how valuable Lei Feng's spirit was. One of Lei Feng's sayings especially moved him:
"There is an end in human life, but no end in the work of serving my people. I will give my life to the endless work of serving the people."
This year he set up the Lei Feng International Volunteer Association(协会) with young people from different countries. They provided children with support.
