Brendan Wheeler is a trumpet(小号) player in his high school band. The 14-year-old boy loves music and has played the trumpet since Grade Five.
Last summer, Brendan watched a documentary called The Last Repair Shop. In the film, a group of people repair instruments for students. "That's cool!" Brendan thought. "Can I do something like that?"
He came up with the idea of collecting and repairing old instruments for children in need. In August, he posted his project online and handed out fliers. To his surprise, donations poured in quickly. Four months later, Brendan had received more than 100 instruments, including guitars, flutes, violins and more. At the same time, he was learning how to repair different instruments from online videos.
On December 15, Brendan organized a repair event at his home. About 20 volunteers came to help. Most of the instruments just needed to be cleaned or oiled. But some needed to be taken apart for cleaning and repair. By the end of the day, all the work was done.
Later, Brendan donated all the instruments to a group called Hungry for Music. It gives instruments to students in need around the world. "I'm proud of our work," said Brendan. "We hope we can bring the love of music to more kids!"
