A hobby can be almost anything a person likes to do in his spare time. Hobbyists raise pets and build model ships. They watch birds, climb mountains, fish, ski, skate and swim. Hobbyists also paint pictures, attend concerts and perform on musical instruments. They collect everything from books to butterflies and from shells to stamps.
People take up hobbies because these activities offer enjoyment, friendship, knowledge and relaxation. Hobbies help people relax after working or studying for a long time and provide a balance between work and play.
I have many ways of relaxing myself. Let me tell you some of my favorites.
I am a big sports fan, so the usual way of relaxing I take is to watch or do many kinds of sports. My favorite is basketball, and I am interested in all kinds of sports. Whether I am playing basketball or watching a game on
TV, it is exciting to see team members doing their best. It's amazing to see players playing very well. It's true that playing sports is not a physical(身体上的)relaxation, but I find it really cool, and it's a good way to relax my brain after a day's hard work.
I enjoy listening to music, and I always have some music playing during my free time. I enjoy listening to the erhu. Some people can't focus on study while listening to music, but I believe I can study better while listening to light music.
Some people choose to relax by traveling. I heard that traveling in Xizang is really enjoyable. Jia Qi traveled to Xizang last year. I like visiting different kinds of places and eating famous snacks there. I also enjoy sightseeing and seeing how the landscape(风景) and people change from place to place.
