Canada is the second largest country in the world. It is in North America, next to the United States. Its capital is Ottawa, and its biggest city is Toronto. Toronto is home to the famous CN Tower. Canada has two official languages: English and French. Many Canadians speak both. Over half the people speak English, but French is also very common, especially in Quebec (a province of Canada). TV programmes and school lessons there are often in French.
Canada has beautiful mountains, large rivers and many lakes. Four of the Great Lakes are shared with the United States in the south, and there are many other lakes in the north. You can find many famous places like Niagara Falls and the CN Tower in Canada.
In most places of Canada, the weather is hot in summer and cold in winter. Winters are long and very cold, so Canadians enjoy many winter sports. Ice hockey is the national sport. People sometimes call it "Canadian hockey". It is a popular game for both boys and girls all over the country. If you go to Canada, you can see beavers (河狸), moose and maple trees (枫树). Beavers are lovely animals and maple leaves are beautiful. In fact, the maple leaf is on Canada's flag!
