China opened the world's tallest bridge on Sept. 28, 2025. It's 625 meters above the Beipan River in Guizhou Province. It's about twice the height of the Eiffel Tower. It also sets new records for building in mountain areas.
The Huajiang Canyon（峡谷）Bridge stretches 2,890 meters in total length. It is supported by two tall towers.

Built in three years and eight months, the project is considered as a boost to tourism and economic development in Guizhou Province. Engineers and workers completed load(负荷)testing in late August, and the bridge opened to traffic on Sept. 28, 2025.
The bridge will connect different communities. It will shorten travel time across the canyon from two hours to two minutes. The bridge also includes some facilities(设施) aimed at visitors, such as a high-speed glass elevator that rises to a coffee area about 800 meters above the river, a glass walkway about 600 meters high, and facilities for bungee jumping(蹦极) and other extreme sports attractions. The Huajiang Grand Canyon has been nicknamed “the Earth's crack”. It is expected to attract millions of visitors in the future.
Engineers and workers faced different serious challenges to build the bridge, including unpredictable(难以预料的) strong winds that can reach typhoon force. Luckily, engineers successfully overcame these difficulties through different technological innovations(新方法). These innovations make the project get 21 national patents(国家专利).
The success of this huge project is an important milestone in the world's bridge engineering. It shows China has great wisdom in building when facing different challenges and it also sets a new benchmark(基准) for building mountain bridges worldwide.
