Shankar's family is poor (贫穷的). One day, he is walking through the forest, carrying some wood. He sees a hungry (饥饿的) old man. Shankar wants to give him some food, but he doesn't have any food with him. So he keeps on his way. On the way, he sees a thirsty monkey. He wants to give him some water, but he doesn't have any water for himself. So he keeps his way ahead.
Then he sees a young man with a dog. He wants to make a fire but does not have wood. Shankar learns about his problem and gives some wood to him. In return, the man gives him some food and water. Now he goes back to the old man and gives him some food. Then he finds the monkey and gives some water to him. The old man and the monkey are very thankful for Shankar's help. Then Shankar goes on his way happily.
Unluckily (不幸的是), one day Shankar falls down the hill. He can't move and no one was there to help him. But the old man who he helped before sees him, and quickly comes and saves him. The monkey goes to the forest and brings some herbs. The old man helps to put the herbs on Shankar's wounds (伤口). After some time, Shankar gets well. All are very happy.
