Two New Pandas in Hong Kong
On September 26th, 2024, two giant pandas, An An and Ke Ke, arrived at Hong Kong International Airport. They are both five years old and were warmly welcomed by people.
An An and Ke Ke came from a breeding(饲养) centre in Sichuan Province. To help them get used to their new home, panda keepers from Ocean Park Hong Kong went to Chengdu in July. The park also brought bamboo from Chengdu for the pandas to eat.
An An is a male(雄性的) panda. He weighs(体重) 130 kilogrammes and is very strong and clever. Ke Ke is a female(雌性的) panda. She weighs 100 kilogrammes and is good at climbing. She is also very cute and lovely.
Now, there are six pandas in Hong Kong. An An and Ke Ke joined Le Le and Ying Ying, who came to Hong Kong in 2007. Ying Ying became famous in August because she gave birth to twins. She is the oldest panda to become a mother for the first time.
People who want to see An An and Ke Ke will have to wait until December. The pandas will stay in quarantine(隔离检疫) for 30 days and then spend more time getting used to their new life in Hong Kong.
