Ⅱ. 阅读理解。
At the age of nine, Chris Haas found that many of his classmates held basketballs the wrong way. As a result, they tried hard to shoot well during a school basketball practice. Since his father was a basketball coach, Chris knew something about the right shooting method. After trying to teach his classmates how to hold the ball correctly, he thought of an invention: the hands-on basketball.
The hands-on basketball is a training tool made for kids who want to learn basketball. Painted hands on the ball show children the right way to hold it when shooting. With the help and encouragement from his teachers and family, Chris asked for and got a patent(专利) for his idea. Later, he went to several sports companies and asked if they were willing to make and sell his invention. Unfortunately, none of them was.
Chris didn't give up, and one and a half years later, his invention luckily got the attention of a sports company. Soon, it became popular in the market. Today, the hands-on basketball is sold successfully all over the world.
However, becoming famous brought new challenges for Chris after he sold his invention. He promoted(推广) his invention by traveling to cities like New York and Las Vegas to show it to people. He also had to work out how to use his money properly.
Every year, he gives a lot of money to children in need. Nowadays, Chris is not only an active basketball player but also the writer of the book—Shooting for Your Dreams.
